Getting started with render template API operations get-started
Before continuing, please review the getting started guide for important information that you need to know in order to successfully make calls to the API, including how to obtain the required destination authoring permission and required headers.
Render exported profiles based on the message transformation template render-exported-data
You can render exported profiles by making a POST request to the authoring/testing/template/render endpoint and providing the destination ID of the destination configuration and the template you created using the sample template API endpoint.
You can start by using a simple template that exports your raw profiles without applying any transformations and then move on to a more complex template, that applies transformations to profiles. The syntax for the simple template is:"template": "{% for profile in input.profiles %}{{profile|raw}}{% endfor %}}"

- The destination ID that you should use here is the
instanceIdthat corresponds to a destination configuration, created using the/destinationsendpoint. Refer to retrieve a destination configuration for more details.

Request parameter
Description
destinationIdThe ID of the destination configuration for which you are rendering exported profiles.
templateThe character-escaped version of the template based on which you are rendering exported profiles.
profilesOptional. You can add profiles to the request body. If you don’t add any profiles, Experience Platform will automatically generate and add profiles to the request.
If you’d like to add profiles to the body of the call, you can generate some by using the Sample profile generation API.
If you’d like to add profiles to the body of the call, you can generate some by using the Sample profile generation API.
Note that the response returned by the render template API endpoint differs based on the destination aggregation policy. If your destination has a configurable aggregation policy, the aggregation key which determines how profiles are aggregated is also returned in the response. Read about aggregation policies for more details.
Response parameter
Description
aggregationKeyRepresents the policy by which profiles are aggregated in exports to your destination. This parameter is optional and will be present only if the destination aggregation policy is set to
CONFIGURABLE_AGGREGATION.profilesDisplays the profiles provided in the request or the automatically generated profiles if no profiles were provided in the request.
outputRendered profile or profiles, as an escaped string, based on the provided message transformation template

Render exported profiles with best effort aggregation and a single profile included in request body best-effort
Request
The following request renders an exported profile that matches the format expected by your destination. In this example, the destination ID corresponds to a destination configuration with best effort aggregation, and a sample profile is included in the body of the request.

A successful response returns HTTP status 200 with details of the exported data. Find the exported profile in the output parameter, as an escaped string.

Render exported profiles with configurable aggregation and profiles included in request body configurable-aggregation
Request
The following request renders multiple exported profiles that match the format expected by your destination. In this example, the destination ID corresponds to a destination configuration with configurable aggregation. Two profiles are included in the body of the request, each with three audience qualifications and five identities. You can generate profiles to send on the call by using the sample profile generation API.
